When faced with life and death decisions for ourselves or a loved one, it’s easy to become overwhelmed, confused, emotional and even experience guilt. After all, isn’t it MY body? Don’t I have the right to choose how and when I die? What do I do if my loved one is in a coma or a vegetative state? When is it OK to remove my loved one from life support? What if my loved one’s condition is consuming our finances? What if my family members disagree with me? These are not easy questions with which we may have to grapple one day. Have you clarified in your mind which measures or procedures can cause death or preserve life? Are you firm in your faith that God is the Author of Life and that life itself is His gift to be cherished until He Himself recalls it? Do you see the caregiver’s role for the infirmed and dying as one who provides merciful and compassionate care? Are you prepared to make decisions regarding a loved one’s life or death?
When ambiguities at life’s end confuse us, we know we can rely on and be comforted by our Great Physician who conquered death once and for all through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. Check your heart, be informed, and above all, trust God in your decisions. He is always in control. Come to learn how your decisions, your words and your actions can give God the glory. We hope you’ll plan to attend this important and informative seminar and luncheon sponsored by Christ Our Savior’s Lutherans for Life Team! We will invite the congregations of our Chattanooga Circuit and the immediate area. Dr. Fenske is a well-known speaker of our Lutheran Church body.
